Αφιέρωμα στο βιολοντσέλο: 4 νέοι Έλληνες βιολοντσελίστες
Ωδείο Αθηνών, Αίθουσα συναυλιών «Άρης Γαρουφαλής»
Δεύτερη χρονιά φέτος του θεσμού που σχεδίασε το Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών για να στηρίξει και να παρουσιάσει νέους έλληνες σολίστες, μετά τις τέσσερις συναυλίες τον Ιούλιο του 2018 στην Αίθουσα συναυλιών «Άρης Γαρουφαλής» του Ωδείου Αθηνών, με αφιέρωμα στη μουσική του γάλλου συνθέτη Κλωντ Ντεμπυσσύ, 100 χρόνια από τον θάνατό του, στις οποίες συμμετείχαν 26 ήδη διακεκριμένοι νέοι μουσικοί.
Για το 2019 η πλατφόρμα Young Greek Classics εστιάζει στο βιολοντσέλο, με αφορμή και έμπνευση από την παρουσία στο Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών, στις 30 Ιουνίου στο Ηρώδειο, του σπουδαίου σολίστα Γιο-Γιο Μα, με την πολύπλευρη πολιτιστική και εκπαιδευτική προσφορά. Παρουσιάζονται τέσσερις εξαιρετικοί νέοι έλληνες σολίστες, η Χριστίνα Μπαζίλη (1 Ιουλίου), ο Μιχάλης Χόιπελ και ο Φερνάντο Νίνα (3 Ιουλίου) και ο Αλέξης Καραϊσκάκης-Νάστος (4 Ιουλίου), με μεγάλη παλέτα από το ρεπερτόριο του βιολοντσέλου. Θα ακουστούν σημαντικά έργα μουσικής δωματίου του 19ου αιώνα (Μπετόβεν, Σούμαν, Μπραμς, Ρ. Στράους κ.ά.), έργα της ισχυρής παράδοσης του 20ού αιώνα (Προκόφιεφ, Σοστακόβιτς, Κασσαντό, Λίγκετι κ.ά.), μέχρι έργα σύγχρονών μας ελλήνων και ξένων συνθετών (κάποια από αυτά αφιερωμένα στον Γιο-Γιο Μα). Στα προγράμματα του τριήμερου αφιερώματος ανιχνεύονται επίσης η σχέση του οργάνου με την παραδοσιακή μουσική, ο ρόλος του στον χώρο της πειραματικής σκηνής και η θέση του στον μοντέρνο ήχο των κυρίαρχων ρευμάτων της μουσικής.
Μαζί με τους 4 βιολοντσελίστες, πολύτιμοι συνοδοιπόροι και συνεργάτες, οι πολυβραβευμένοι νέοι πιανίστες Αλεξία Μουζά, Θοδωρής Ιωσηφίδης και ο ξεχωριστός νέος ντράμερ Ντάνιελ Παλαιοδήμος.

Μιχάλης Χόιπελ
Έχει εμφανιστεί σε μερικές από τις σημαντικότερες αίθουσες συναυλιών σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο, από το Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών, την Elbphilharmonie και την Laeiszhalle του Αμβούργου, έως το Shanghai Concert Hall στην Κίνα, και το San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concert Hall στις ΗΠΑ. Έχει συμπράξει ως σολίστ με ορχήστρες όπως την Εθνική ορχήστρα της Λευκορωσίας, την Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα του Δήμου Αθηναίων, την Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα του πανεπιστημίου μουσικής του Αμβούργου και του Ανοβέρου, την Sinfonieta του δήμου Χανίων και την Αθηναϊκή Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα Νέων και μαέστρους όπως τους Eiji Oue, Αλέξανδρο Μυράτ, Μύρων Μιχαηλίδη, Martin Brauss, René Gulikers κ.α. Καλέιται συχνά να δώσει παραστασεις σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ, όπως το Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών, το Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, το Aegean Arts Festival, το Mendelssohn Festival Hamburg, το Aegina Music Festival κ.α.
Συμμετέχει σε σχήματα μουσικής δωματίου και ορχήστρες σε Γερμανία και Ελλάδα παίζοντας σημαντικά έργα κλασσικής μουσικής αλλά και δίνοντας πρώτες εκτελέσεις έργων σύγχρονων συνθετών. Το ενδιαφέρον του για τη σύγχρονη μουσική τον οδήγησε το 2015 να δημιουργήσει, μαζί με άλλους συναδέλφους του, το σύνολο σύγχρονης μουσικής Ensemble Volans στο Αμβούργο για το οποίο επιτελεί τα καθήκοντα του καλλιτεχνικού διευθυντή. Αρκετοί συνθέτες του έχουν γράψει και αφιερώσει έργα των οποίων έχει κάνει τις πρώτες εκτελέσεις.
Έλαβε τα πρώτα μαθήματα βιολοντσέλου σε ηλικία 8 ετών από την Όλγα Μπακμανίδη και συνέχισε στο ωδείο Αθηνών και αργότερα στο Σύγχρονο ωδείο της Αθήνας με καθηγητή τον Renato Ripo, όπου και πήρε το 2006 το δίπλωμα βιολοντσέλου με βαθμό παμψηφεί Άριστα, Α’ Βραβείο και το χρυσό μετάλλιο του Ωδείου. Λαμβάνει μέρος με επιτυχία σε διαγωνισμούς αποσπώντας Βραβεία όπως το Α’ βραβείο στους Πανελλήνιους Μαθητικούς Αγώνες Μουσικής το 2003 και 2005, το Α΄ βραβείο στο διαγωνισμό Masefield το 2013 και το 3ο βραβείο στον Διεθνή διαγωνισμό Μότσαρτ 2014. Υπήρξε υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση για το φοιτητικό έτος 2012/13 και του ιδρύματος Alfred Toepfer στο Αμβούργο. Από το 2006 έως το 2011 ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του στο πανεπιστήμιο Μουσικής και θεάτρου του Ανοβέρου με τον διακεκριμένο καθηγητή Tilmann Wick, από όπου έλαβε το δίπλωμα του με το βαθμό Άριστα στο βιολοντσέλο. Μετά από επιτυχείς εξετάσεις, τον Ιούνιο του 2011, εισήχθη στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μουσικής και Θεάτρου του Αμβούργου όπου ολοκλήρωσε το Σεπτέμβριο του 2013 τις σπουδές του για Master στην τάξη του διεθνούς φήμης βιολοντσελίστα Arto Noras. Παράλληλα λαμβάνει, από τα 14 του, ενεργά μέρος σε διεθνή σεμινάρια, όπως το Forum Artium (Norddeutsches Studienzentrum für musische Bildung) στο Osnabrück, το Schleswig Holstein Music Festival στη Lübeck, το Euro Arts Music Festival στη Λειψία, το Kronberg Academy, το MusicAlp Festival στη Γαλλία, το International Mendelssohn Summerschool Festival στο Αμβούργο κ.α., δίνοντας συναυλίες και λαμβάνοντας μαθήματα από διάσημους καθηγητές όπως τους D. Geringas, A. Noras, B. Greenhouse, W.E. Schmidt, J.P. Maintz, A. Krustev, A. Bylsma κ.α.
Ο Μιχάλης Χόιπελ συνεργάζεται με καλλιτέχνες και έξω από το χώρο της μουσικής, με ανθρώπους του χορού όπως τον Δάφνι Κόκκινο, την Αγγελική Τρομπόυκη και τη Νένα Παπαγεωργίου Μουράτογλου, ανθρώπους του θεάτρου όπως οι Μιχάλης Αεράκης, Θοδωρής Θεοδωρίδης και Amos Drescher και εικαστικούς όπως η Margot Zweers και η Ανθούλα Μπουρνά, δημιουργώντας διαδραστικές παραστάσεις. Παράλληλα κάνει παρουσιάσεις και ομιλίες για παιδιά και ενήλικες, όπως στο TEDxAcademy 2016, και γράφει άρθρα για τη μουσική, αποβλέποντας σε μια πιο άμεση επαφή ενός ευρύτερου κοινού με την κλασσική και τη σύχρονη μουσική.
Οι μουσικές και καλλιτεχνικές του δραστηριότητες έχουν συχνά λάβει την επιδοκιμασία των μέσων μαζικής ενημέρωσης. Οι συνεχείς μουσικές του αναζητήσεις είναι φανερές και στην πρώτη του δισκογραφική δουλειά AFIEROSSIS, που παρουσίασε το 2017 σε συνεργασία με την γερμανική δισκογραφική εταιρία ARS Produktion, και για την οποία ηχογράφησε ένα ευρύ πρόγραμμα με έργα του 20ου και 21ου αιώνα για βιολοντσέλο σόλο.
Παίζει σε ένα βιολοντσέλο κατασκευασμένο το 1723 από τον David Tecchler στη Ρώμη.

Φερνάντο Νίνα
Πήρε το δίπλωμα τσέλου με Άριστα παμψηφεί από το Δημοτικό Ωδείο Λαμίας το 2007, σπουδάζοντας με τον Βαγγέλη Νίνα. Έχει υπάρξει μαθητής του Ρενάτο Ρίπο. Συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στο Μόναχο με τον Reiner Ginzel για ένα χρόνο. Έπειτα σπούδασε στο Κονσερβατόριο της Ουτρέχτης για το Bachelor του (2008-‘12) στην τάξη της Timora Rosler και το Master του στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Κολωνίας (2012-‘15) με την παγκοσμίου φήμης Maria Kliegel.
Πέρα από τσελίστας, είναι ένας ταλαντούχος ντράμερ και συνθέτης. Το πάθος του για την εικόνα-ταινία, την σκηνοθεσία, τον ήχο, την Jazz-Blues σκηνή αλλα και την τεχνλογία αποτελούν βασικά στοιχεία της μουσικής του ταυτότητας και της αισθητικής του. Πέρσι συνεργάστηκε με παραγωγή του ΑΝΤ1 φτιάχνοντας το soundtrack για το τηλεοπτικό θρίλερ "Η Εκδρομή".
Έχει μοιραστεί την σκηνή με μεγάλα ονόματα του χώρου του στο εξωτερικό όπως οι Frans Helmerson, Mikhail Zemtsov, Maria Kliegel, Sol Gabetta, Dana Zemtsov, Timora Rosler, Gary Hoffman, Alban Gerhardt κτλ.
Του έχουν απονεμηθεί πάνω απο 12 βραβεία σε διεθνείς και εθνικούς διαγωνισμούς στο ενεργητικό του και έχει παίξει σε αίθουσες διεθνούς φήμης όπως Vredenburg στην Ουτρέχτη, Muziekgebouw στο Άμστερνταμ, Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών και Θεσσαλονίκης, Ηρώδειο Αττικής, Lufti Kirdar Convention & Exhibition Centre στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, Kölner Philharmonie κτλ. Το 2011 έπαιξε για την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή στις Βρυξέλλες και τo 2012 ηχογράφησε ζωντανά για το Radio4 classical της Ολλανδίας.
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι ο Fernando είναι υπότροφος του ιδρύματος "Αλέξανδρος Σ. Ωνάσης" και παίζει σε ένα τσέλο του Urs Mächler.

Ντάνιελ Παλαιοδήμος
Στην σκηνή o Ντάνιελ είναι ένας ντράμερ που παρουσιάζει μία τεράστια γκάμα grooves, με πολύπλοκους ρυθμούς και ακούσματα να αποτελούν ένα βασικό κομμάτι της μουσικής του ταυτότητας. Κάνοντας συνειδητά προσπάθεια να μην καθιερωθεί σε ένα μόνο είδος μουσικής, ο Daniel περιγράφει το παίξιμό του ως έναν ιδιαίτερο συνδυασμό των επιρροών του πού εξελίσσει συνεχώς και προσαρμόζει στη στιγμή. Ως αποτέλεσμα της ευρύτερα διαδεδομένης μουσικής γλώσσας το παίξιμό του δημιουργεί ένα εκλεκτικό μείγμα Jazz, έχει αίσθηση και ερεθίσματα από την ανατολίτικη μουσική εκφράζοντας παράλληλα και την αντίθεσή του στην ακαμψία της σύγχρονης ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής. Από το 2010 πού μετακόμισε στο Λονδίνο - λόγω και των μουσικών του σπουδών εκεί - είχε την ευκαιρία να συνεργαστεί με μερικούς από τούς αγαπημένους του μουσικούς, παίζοντας στους πλέον γνωστούς μουσικούς χώρους της πόλης. Προς το παρόν τη δημιουργία του προσωπικού του Extended Play Record, ενώ παράλληλα συνεχίζει να εργάζεται πυρετωδώς και να πειραματίζεται δημιουργώντας σχήματα μέσα στην σφιχτή και δεμένη κοινότητα μουσικών πού έχει γνωρίσει, αγαπήσει και επιλέξει να ζει.

A tribute to cello: 4 young Greek cellists
The successful Young Greek Classics platform that was launched last year with a tribute to the 100-year anniversary since Claude Debussy's death and featuring 26 soloists, will continue this year.
The event aims to introduce young Greek musicians who have been distinguished as soloists in Greece and abroad. In 2009, the event will include three concerts at the renovated Aris Garoufalis hall at the Athens Conservatoire.
Inspired by the internationally acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who will perform at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on June 30, Young Greek Classics will feature the work of young, already accomplished Greek cellists and other talented musicians, in what will prove to be a fascinating and high-quality programme.

Michael Heupel
Michael is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. His dynamic approach to music-making and creative programming have lead to performances in prestigious halls all over the world, such as the Athens Megaron, the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall, the SFCM Concert Hall, the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich, the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens and the Liederhalle Stuttgart. As a soloist he has performed with orchestras such as the Athens Symphony Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra of Belarus, the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Sinfonietta of Chania/Crete. He has appeared under the baton of conductors such as Ernst Kovacic, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Eiji Oue, Alexander Myrat, and William Kunhardt. He is often invited to perform in international music festivals and concert series around the world like the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Athens Festival, the “FULL” concert series by the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive in San Francisco California, the Euro Music Festival, the “Music connects the OCC and the Panteion University” concert series in Athens, the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Sweden, the MusicAlp Festival in France and the Mendelssohn Summer School Festival in Hamburg. His quality and experience as a chamber musician lead to his selection by the HfMT Hamburg, to participate in a research and music program by the German Government, performing in China, the United States and Germany in 2017 and 2018. His musical performances and interpretations have been often praised by the press. His spirit for innovation has been rewarded with his inclusion to the Future of Orchestral Culture Fellowship as well as the Masefield concert scholarship by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation in Hamburg. Apart from his concerts he has sought to create a more direct contact of a broader audience with music through a plethora of articles he has published in the mainstream media as well as presentations for children and adults. He has given lectures on classical and contemporary music in many institutions in Greece and Germany. In 2016 he was invited to give a talk and perform at the TEDxAcademy in Athens on the topic of music’s power to change people and society. He also teaches the cello in Hamburg and in masterclasses around Europe. Born 1988 in Athens, he took his first cello lessons at the age of 8 and 2 years later he enrolled in the Athens Conservatory. At the age of 14 he attended the class of Renato Ripo at the Modern conservatory of Athens. There he obtained the diploma for cello with the highest grade and was awarded the first Prize and the gold medal of the conservatory. In October 2006 he began his studies in the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover in the class of Prof. Tilmann Wick, and graduated with distinction in 2011. From 2011 to 2014 he completed his Masters degree in the University of Music and Drama in Hamburg in the class of Arto Noras. He also received thorough training in chamber music by teachers like Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, the Szymanowski Quartet, Tatjana Masurenko, the Talich Quartet, Lars Vogt and Niklas Schmidt. Numerous masterclasses and private lessons with eminent artists and teachers like David Geringas, Bernard Greenhouse, Julius Berger, Jens Peter Maintz, Anner Bylsma, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Bernard Gmelin, Gerhard Darmstadt, Anatoli Krastev and Enrico Bronzi have helped him develop his artistic personality and earn prizes in national and international competitions, like the Panhellenic Youth Music Competition, the Masefield Competition in Hamburg and the International Mozart competition in Hagen. He is also holder of the Onassis foundation scholarship. Michael Heupel’s repertoire ranges from the baroque to contemporary music, while also delving into improvisation and other genres of music. While his interpretations of the classical repertoire have earned great public response and critical acclaim, his dedication to the study and interpretation of contemporary music has prompted many composers to write works for him. In order to explore a wider range of contemporary music, he is also a founding member and the artistic director of the Ensemble Volans, which consists of young musicians living in Hamburg. His commitment to contemporary music is also apparent on his first cd “Afierossis”, for which he recorded works for solo cello from the 20th and 21st century. Always looking to expand the expressive possibilities of his playing and broaden his artistic horizons he has acquired experiences in other musical genres, like folk music and free improvisation, and has also worked alongside dancers, visual artists and writers. He plays on a cello built in 1723 by David Tecchler in Rome.

Fernando Nina
Fernando is an award winning cellist counting more than 13 international prizes on his racks. As an artist sponsored by the prestigious Onassis Foundation, he rained at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Following completion of his studies at several of the best world renowned institutions, he performed in some of the most famous international venues and festivals. These include venues such as Herodus Atticus Athens, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam, WDR Funkhaus Köln, and festivals like Cello Biënnale Amsterdam, Athens & Epidaurus Festival and Classic Clash Festival. In addition, he also shared stage performances with eminent orchestras and artists such as Johannes Moser, Schumann Quartet, Symphoniacs, Sternal Symphonic Society feat. Pablo Held Trio, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. In testament to the diversity of his work, he has created soundtracks for TV shows and films for major broadcasting platforms. Nina weaves the threads of a vibrant classical musical identity with the contrasting fibers of a more underground artistic musical character, drawing inspiration from urban aesthetics, street art and street fashion. He distills and infuses the essence of each of these sources into the creation of his music, establishing himself as a modern sound alchemist. Daniel Paleodimos
Daniel is a drummer who believes in bringing 100% honesty on stage – all while showcasing a tremendous display of elusive grooves with rhythmic sophistication. Consciously making an effort to not sit too comfortably in one category, Daniel instead describes his playing as a unique combination of his influences that are constantly evolving and adapting to the moment. As a by-product of his wide-ranging musical vocabulary, his drumming conjures up an eclectic mix of jazz, the off-kilter feel of eastern music contrasted with the typically rigid edge of electronic music drum programming. Since moving to London in 2010, he has had the opportunity to work with many of his favorite like-minded musicians, playing in the city’s most iconic venues. Currently, he has his sights set on creating his own Extended Play Record whilst he continues to work and experiment within the tight knit community of musicians he has come to know.
