Ο Laurent Garnier κάνει τον πλανήτη να χορεύει εδώ και 30 χρόνια. Ένας από τους πρωτοπόρους της dance μουσικής σκηνής, έχει καταφέρει να διαδώσει το μήνυμα του σε όλο τον κόσμο, από πάρτι σε αποθήκες και clubs μέχρι μεγάλα φεστιβάλ. Αναμφισβήτητα ένας καλλιτέχνης με πολλά πρόσωπα και τέτοιο αντίκτυπο στη μουσική σκηνή που δύσκολα μπορεί να πλησιαστεί. Πάνω απόλα όμως είναι ένα DJ, ένα αληθινός DJ: μεταμορφωμένος από την μουσική, παθιασμένος με το κοινό.
Ταυτόχρονα, είναι ένας εξερευνητής παλιών και νέων ήχων με απίθανα πλούσια μουσική κουλτούρα. Στον ελεύθερο του χρόνο εξερευνά παλιά δισκοπωλεία, τσεκάρει τα μουσικά blogs, ακολoυθεί τις πιο άγνωστες μουσικές τάσεις στο ίντερνετ και ακούει κάθε ένα από τα κομμάτια που του αποστέλονται. Η μουσική, ο παλμός του πλανήτη, είναι το Άγιο Δισκοπότηρό του.
Ο Laurent Garnier είναι ένας καλλιτέχνης που δε μένει ποτέ στάσιμος. Διαθέτει ακούραστο ενθουσιασμό και εμφανίζεται πάντα με νέες ιδέες και πρότζεκτ. Στις αρχές των ’90s, ο Laurent βρέθηκε πίσω από το μικρόφωνο, παίζοντας δίσκους σε Radio FG, Maxximum, Fun Radio και Radio Nova, όπου παρέμεινε για 18 ολόκληρα χρόνια.
Πέρα από DJ και ραδιοφωνικός παραγωγός, ο Laurent Garnier εξελίχθηκε επίσης σε έναν αξιοσέβαστο παραγωγό. Οι πρώτες του επιτυχίες (Acid Eiffel και Wake Up), αμφότερες υπήρξαν το soundtrack της έκρηξης της dance μουσικής στην Γαλλία, άνοιξαν τον δρόμο για μια σειρά από περίτεχνα και πολυδιάστατα albums. Στο διάστημα έξι επιτυχημένων albums, ο Laurent Garnier διέσχισε μια απίθανη διαδρομή. Οι τελευταίες κυκλοφορίες του είναι σε label όπως Ed Banger, Kompakt, MCDE, 50 weapons και Hypercolour. Πέρα από τα albums και singles, o Laurent Garnier είναι συνθέτης για τον κινηματογράφο, τηλεόραση και θέατρο.
Το μουσικό του ταξίδι περιγράφεται στο βιβλίο Electrochoc, που ο Garnier έγραψε μαζί με τον δημοσιογράφο-συγγραφέα David Brun-Lambert (κυκοφόρησε το 2003 και το 2013 σε αναβαθμισμένη έκδοση), καταφέρνοντας να πουλήσει 25.000 αντίτυπα μόνο στη Γαλλία. Σε αυτή τη βιογραφία, διηγείται την επική ιστορία της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής μέσα από τις εμπειρίες του. To Electroshoc υπήρξε εκδοτική επιτυχία και ως συνέπεια μεταφράστηκε σε πολλές γλώσσες όπως Αγγλικά, Ισπανικά, Γερμανικά, Ιαπωνικά, Ρώσικα, Ιταλικά και Κροατικά.
Ύστερα από 30 χρόνια αφοσίωσης στη μουσική, ο Laurent χρίστηκε Ιππότης της Λεγεώνας της Τιμής, το 2017.

Laurent Garnier has been making the planet dance for 30 years. One of the pioneering DJs of the dance music scene, he spread his message across the planet, from raves to warehouse parties, clubs to festivals. He is a multi-faceted artist whose impact on the music scene is far-reaching. But above all he is a DJ, a true DJ: transformed by music, passionate about the crowd.
Yet he is also an explorer of old and new sounds and has an amazingly rich musical culture. He spends most of his spare time sifting through old vinyl in record shops, checking the music blogs, following the most obscure leads on the internet and listening to every single piece of music he is sent.

At the beginning of the 90’s, Laurent Garnier got behind the microphone, playing records on Radio FG, Maxximum, Fun Radio and Radio Nova, where he remained a vital force for 18 years.
As well as the demands of his DJ-ing and his radio shows, Laurent Garnier has also evolved into a well-respected music producer. His first big hits (Acid Eiffel and Wake Up), both soundtracks to the explosion of dance music in France, have paved the way for a series of albums that are both elaborate and multi-layered. In the space of six celebrated albums, Laurent Garnier has embarked upon a remarkable journey. His latest releases are on labels such as Ed Banger, Kompakt, MCDE, 50 weapons, Hypercolour. Aside from his albums and singles, Laurent Garnier is also a composer for the cinema, television and theatre.
His musical journey is described in the book Electrochoc that Laurent Garnier and the journalist-writer David Brun-Lambert wrote together (released in 2003, and then updated in 2013) which sold 25 000 copies in France alone. In this biography, Laurent Garnier tells the epic story of electronic music through his experiences and recollections. Electrochoc was a publishing hit and has subsequently been translated into several other languages including English, Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian, Italian and Croatian.
After 30 years devoted to music, Laurent has been made Chévalier de la Légion d´Honneur in 2017.
