Pier Paolo Pasolini, La rabbia (1963)

Buried in the archives for more than 40 years, "La rabbia (Rage)" is Pasolini’s least known but most directly political film. Passionate, ironic and resolutely communist, this document summons a “poetry of future” from the terrors of the past. When the producer cut his film in half and paired it with the rantings of a far-right ideologue, Pasolini disowned it and withdrew his authorial signature. Newly restored in 2008, this important piece of the Marxist poet and director’s work is a singular optic on the crises of the present.
