Καλωσορίζουμε την Nicoletta Key και τον Baidy Ba στην Αθήνα για ένα εντατικό σεμινάριο χορού.
Για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα, ο παραδοσιακός Σενεγαλέζικος χορός “Sabar” συναντά τις τεχνικές του αφροσύγχρονου χορού για ένα και μόνο Σαββατοκύριακο στον αγαπημένο μας πολυχώρο.
• Baidy Ba / Sabar & Sabar Fusion
Το Sabar είναι ένα παραδοσιακό κρουστό και μια ευρύτερη μουσικοχορευτική παράδοση της Σενεγάλης. Ο χορός Sabar πήρε το όνομα του από το συνονόματο μουσικό όργανο που όταν χορεύετε επιτρέπει στους συμμετέχοντες να εκφραστούν, να εκτονωθούν, να επικοινωνήσουν. Το Sabar χορεύεται από όλους τους Σενεγαλέζους ανεξαρτήτως τάξης ή ηλικίας σε όλη τη χώρα, πιο συγκεκριμένα σε τελετές γάμου, οικογενειακές εκδηλώσεις, πάρτι στο δρόμο και κάθε είδους εορταστικές τελετές.
Το "Sabar Fusion" δημιουργήθηκε για να επιτρέψει στους χορευτές να κατανοήσουν το Sabar και τη σύνδεσή του με τους υπόλοιπους Δυτικοαφρικανικούς παραδοσιακούς χορούς καθώς και με τις πιο σύγχρονες τεχνικές χορού.
Ο Baidy Ba θα μοιραστεί μαζί μας τα βασικά βήματα χορού Sabar καθώς και την τεχνική αποδόμηση τους, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη σχέση μεταξύ των βημάτων και του ρυθμού.
ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ: Ο Baidy Ba είναι χορευτής, χορογράφος και περφόρμερ από το Καολάκ της Σενεγάλης. Ξεκίνησε να χορεύει σε νεαρή ηλικία urban style χορούς, όπως popping, breaking και crump. Το 2012 άρχισε την εκπαίδευσή του στον σύγχρονο και κλασσικό χορό με τον Guillaume Siard από το μπαλέτο Preljocaj και τον Alioune Diagne από το Cie Diagn'art. Από το 2013 έως το 2018 ακολούθησαν κύκλοι μαθημάτων στην σχολή Ecole des Sables με πρωτοπόρους του Αφροσύγχρονου χορού όπως η Germaine Acogny και ο Patrick Acogny. Αργότερα έκανε εκπαίδευση με τν Gil Roman από τα μπαλέτα Bej'art στον κλασικό χορό και επισης το locking και popping με την ηθοποιό Marie Koda. Το 2018 έλαβε δίπλωμα στην «τέχνη της διδασκαλίας του χορού» από το Ecole des Sables, αφού ολοκλήρωσε τρεις μήνες φοίτησης.
Συμμετείχε στο πρώτο του έργο “Political Bodies” ως χορευτής με τον Yolanda Guttiérrez που ακολούθησε μια περιοδεία στη Γερμανία το 2015. Χόρεψε επίσης για την Tenane Company στο κομμάτι “Qui Sommes Nous” που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Φεστιβάλ “Dance Africa” στο Μπρούκλιν το 2016, το Φεστιβάλ “Kaay fecc” και “Cuadernos esceninos” στην Ισπανία.
Το 2017 δημιούργησε την ομάδα “Mbosse Dance Company” και ταξίδεψε στη Γαλλία και την Αγγλία για πολιτιστική ανταλλαγή στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος “Nicola”.
Δημιούργησε το πρώτο του σόλο “Gouddi Ndakarou” που παρουσιάστηκε στο Τσαντ στο Φεστιβάλ “Souar Souar” και στη Σενεγάλη στο Ινστιτούτο “Goethe” του Ντακάρ, στο Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο “Blaise Senghor” και στην “Ecole des Sables”.
Η δεύτερη σόλο δουλειά “Illusion” παρουσιάστηκε το έτος στο Φεστιβάλ “Soloduo International Contemporary Dance Festival” στην Κολωνία.
Από τον Απρίλιο έως τον Ιούνιο του 2019, κλήθηκε να συμμετάσχει στο έργο “Un pas en Avant” στο Τσάντ που εργάζεται με πρόσφυγες πολέμου λόγω του ενδιαφέροντος και της αφοσίωσής του για την εργασία σε κοινωνικά περιβάλλοντα.
Ο Baidy είναι ο δημιουργός του πρώτου «Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Χορού» που έγινε ποτέ στο Kaolack. Διοργανώθηκε για πρώτη φορά τον Οκτώβριο του 2017 και αργότερα τον Οκτώβριο του 2019.
Επί του παρόντος ο Baidy δημιουργεί ένα έργο με χορευτές από την περιοχή Kaolack, με την υποστήριξη της “Alliance Française ok Kaolack” και σε συνεργασία με την χορεύτρια και χορογράφο Nicoletta Key Bonanni.
• Nicoletta Key / Afro-Contemporary & Carribean Flow
Το κινητικό λεξιλόγιο της Nicoletta Key περιλαμβάνει ένα μείγμα παραδοσιακών χορών της Αφρικής και της διασποράς της.
Η δομή του μαθήματός της έχει αναπτυχθεί με έμφαση στην κατανόηση της φυσικής ροής της κίνησης και της ενέργειας καθώς και για στην έννοια και σημασία της εγρήγορσης του σώματος κατά τη διάρκεια της κίνησης.
Θα οδηγηθείτε σε ένα βιωματικό ταξίδι για την αναζήτηση της γείωσης, της ανύψωσης και τη σύνδεσης με τον εαυτό σας και τον πλησίον. Εξερευνώντας την κινητικότητα της σπονδυλικής στήλης μπορεί κάποιος να εμβαθύνει στην ποιότητα της κίνησής του, να βιώσει και να ενσωματώσει τα συναισθήματα, να βρει εναλλακτικά κέντρα σώματος καθώς επίσης και να αυξήσει την ενέργεια και την ζωτικότητα του σώματος.
ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ: Η Nicoletta Key Bonanni είναι χορεύτρια και χορογράφος που γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Ρώμη της Ιταλίας. Από το 2010 σπουδάζει και δραστηριοποιήται στο Λονδίνο, εκεί όπου ολοκλήρωσε το πτυχίο της στο χορό από το Πανεπιστήμιο “Kingston” και το μεταπτυχιακό “Directing & Teaching” στο “Royal Central School Of Drama”. Τώρα ζει ανάμεσα στο Λονδίνο, τη Ρώμη και το Ντακάρ, ακολουθώντας την καριέρα της ως διεθνής καλλιτέχνης χορού. Κατά τη διάρκεια αυτών των ετών εκπαίδευσης και καθοδήγησης, η Key ανέπτυξε ένα έντονο ενδιαφέρον για τις μορφές μοντέρνου και παραδοσιακού χορού της Αφρικής και της Καραϊβικής, το σύγχρονο χορό και τα urban style. Από το 2011, αφιερώνεται στην ανάπτυξη της χορογραφικής της κινησιολογίας, έναν συνδυασμό μορφών που προέρχονται από τη Δυτική και τη Νότια Αφρική, την Αϊτή, την Κούβα και την Τζαμάικα, σε συνδυασμό με τα σύγχρονα λεξιλόγια χορού.
Εκπαιδεύτηκε με αναγνωρισμένους δασκάλους όπως οι Alesandra Seutin, Germaine Acogny, Patrick Acogny, Beverlie Glean, Cindy Claes, Thomas Presto, Kenrick Sandy, Judith Palmer, Vicky Ibogwe, Aida Diop, Charles Maema, Leila McMillan, Baidy Ba, Biaye Afia, και Keren Rosemberg μεταξύ πολλών άλλων. Έχει χορεψει για ομαδες όπως η IRIE! dancetheatre, το Folkdanceremixed, το BoyBlue ent., το CindyCleasProductions, το Project G, το Connectvibes * και το Vocab καθώς και έχει συμμετάσχει σε διάφορα έργα, εκδηλώσεις και μουσικά βίντεο. Έχει ταξιδέψει στην Κούβα για να εκπαιδευτεί στη σύγχρονη κουβανική και λαογραφική αφρο-κουβανική φόρμα στο αναγνωρισμένο «Teatro Nacional» στην Αβάνα και έχει επίσης ταξιδέψει στη Σενεγάλη για να εκπαιδεύσει στην τεχνική Afro contemporary / Acogny και παραδοσιακές μορφές της Δυτικής Αφρικής στην Ecole des Sables '.
Το 2018 ίδρυσε την εταιρεία χοροθεάτρου "MOVEMENT DECO", με στόχο να μοιραστεί την πρακτική της κίνησης με άλλους χορευτές και να συνεχίσει να αναπτύσσει μια μορφή κίνησης που επιθυμεί να εξαλείψει την ιεραρχία μεταξύ των διαφορετικών μορφών χορού.
Η Key ασχολείται τώρα με την ανάπτυξη του πρώτου της ατομικού έργου «FEMME R (H) OME», συνδυάζοντας την σύγχρονη Afro με στοιχεία που προέρχονται από την ιταλική καταγωγή της. Συνεργάζεται επίσης με τον χορευτή και δημιουργό Baidy Ba για ένα εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα με νέους χορευτές από την περιοχή Kaolack της Σενεγάλης καθώς και για τη δημιουργία του ντουέτο “Niary Facce”, το οποίο παρουσιάστηκε στο St.Louis της Σενεγάλης μετά από δύο εβδομάδες διαμονής στο πολιτιστικό και χορογραφικό κέντρο «Le Chateau / Duo Solo dance». Θα συνεχίσουν τη διαδικασία έρευνας το 2020, με 3 ακόμα residencies και εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα τόσο στην Αφρική όσο και στην Ευρώπη.

We are welcoming the new year and two great artists hosting an intensive weekend workshop!
For the first time in Greece, a seminar where traditional Senegalese dance “Sabar” meets the techniques of afro-contemporary dance.
• Baidy Ba / Sabar & Sabar Fusion
Sabar is described as being the traditional Senegalese instrument, the Circle which allows drummers and dancers to express themselves. Traditional Sabar is danced all over Senegal, more precisely in marriage ceremonies, family tours, street parties and all sorts of festive ceremonies.
The ‘Sabar Fusion Concept’ was created to allow dancers of all styles to see the links between traditional dances, urban and modern contemporary forms. Baidy Ba will introduce the students to the basics of Sabar dance through the deconstruction of the 5 steps and Sabar grooves, with a strong emphasis on the relationship between the steps and the rhythm. This will be the basis for the exploration of ‘Sabar fusion’, where a more contemporary approach to the form will be taken, playing with different movement dynamics and with a larger movement vocabulary.
BIOGRAPHY: Baidy Ba is a dancer, choreographer and performer from Kaolack, Senegal. He started dancing from an early age practicing urban dances such as popping, breaking and krump.
In 2012 he began his first training in contemporary and classical dance with Guillaume Siard from Preljocaj ballet and Alioune Diagne from Cie Diagn’art. Other trainings followed from 2013 to 2018 at Ecole des Sables with African pioneers of Afro contemporary dance such as Germaine Acogny and Patrick Acogny and benefited a classical dance training with Gil Roman from the ballet Bej’art and locking and popping with actress Marie Koda. In 2018 he received a diploma in ‘the art of teaching dance’ from Ecole des Sables after completing three months of intense training.
Baidy Ba participated in his first project as a dancer in the production ‘Political Bodies' with Yolanda Guttiérrez followed by a tour in Germany in 2015. He danced for the Tenane Company in the piece ‘Qui Sommes Nous’ performed in the ‘Dance Africa Festival’ in Brooklyn 2016, the Festival ‘Kaay fecc' and ‘Cuadernos esceninos’ in Spain.
In 2017, he created his own company Mbosse Dance Company and travelled to France and England for a cultural exchange as part of the ‘Nicola project’.
He created his first solo ‘Gouddi Ndakarou’ that was presented in Tchad at the ‘Souar Souar Festival’ and in Senegal at the Goethe Institute of Dakar, at the Cultural Center Blaise Senghor and at the Ecole des Sables.
His second solo ‘Illusion’ was presented las year at the ‘Soloduo International Contemporary Dance Festival’ in Cologne.
From April to June 2019, he was invited to take part of the project ‘Un pas en Avant’ in Tchad working with war refugees because of his interest and dedication for working in social settings.
Baidy is the creator of the first ‘International Dance Festival’ ever held in Kaolack. The first edition was organised in October 2017 and the second in October 2019.
Currently Baidy is working on a Collective project with dancers from the Kaolack region, supported by the Alliance Française ok Kaolack and in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Nicoletta Key Bonanni.
• Nicoletta Key / Afro-Contemporary & Carribean Flow
Nicoletta Key's movement language is a distinctive mixture of African & Caribbean traditional and modern forms, contemporary dance and dance theatre, all reinterpreted within her own movement understanding and through a contemporary lens.
Her approach has been developed with an emphasis on finding the natural energy flow of the body, readiness and embodiment during the class. You will be guided to an experiential research of groundness to centre, elevate and connect with one self and one another. Exploring the spine, its ranges and quality of motion to amplify and embody feelings, finding alternative body centres, exploring fluidity, dynamism and performance with softness, vitality and composure.
BIOGRAPHY: Nicoletta Key Bonanni is a dance and movement artist born and raised in Rome, Italy. Since 2010 she has been based in London, developing herself as an artist and creative. In London, she has completed her Bachelor Degree in dance from 'Kingston University’ and her Master degree in Movement: Directing and Teaching at the ‘Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’. She is now living between London, Rome and Dakar, pursuing her career as an international dance artist.
Since 2013 Key has been mentored by international dance theatre artists Alesandra Seutin and Cindy Claes. During those years of training and mentorship, Key developed a strong interest for African and Caribbean modern and traditional dance forms, contemporary dance and urban styles. Since 2011, she has been dedicating herself to the development of her movement language as a blend of forms coming from West and South Africa, Haiti, Cuba and Jamaica together with contemporary dance vocabularies. She has trained with internationally acclaimed dance artists such as Alesandra Seutin, Germaine Acogny, Patrick Acogny, Beverlie Glean, Cindy Claes, Thomas Presto, Kenrick Sandy, Judith Palmer, Vicky Ibogwe, Aida Diop, Charles Maema, Leila McMillan, Baidy Ba, Ibou Biaye Afia, and Keren Rosemberg amongst many others. She has performed for companies such as IRIE! dance theatre, Folkdanceremixed, BoyBlue ent., CindyCleasProductions, Project G, Connectingvibes* and Vocab dance as well as performing for a variety of projects, events and music videos. She has travelled to Cuba to train in Modern Cuban and folkloric Afro-Cuban forms at the acclaimed ‘Teatro Nacional’ in Havana and she has also travelled to Senegal to train in Afro contemporary/Acogny technique and West African traditional forms at ‘Ecole des Sables’.
In 2018 she has founded her dance theatre company MOVEMENT DECO’, aiming to share her movement practice with other dancers and to keep developing a movement form that wishes to dismantle the hierarchy between the different dance styles.
Key is now focusing on her teaching practice and performing career, working on a variety of settings, organising workshops internationally and developing her first solo work ‘FEMME R(H)OME’, fusing Afro contemporary with vocabularies drawing from her Italian heritage. She is also collaborating with Senegalese dance artist Baidy Ba, supported by the Alliance Française, on an educational project with young urban dancers in the Kaolack region of Senegal as well as creating their first duet ‘Niary Facce’. The duet has been presented in St.Louis, Senegal, after two weeks of Residency at the Cultural & Choreographic centre ‘Le Chateau/Duo Solo dance’. They will continue the research process in 2020, with 3 more residencies and mentoring programmes both in Africa and Europe.
